Sweet Chestnut – Castanea sativa (Potted)

Description

Sweet Chestnut, Castanea sativa, is a deciduous tree. It requires a large garden to show off its beautiful foliage. However, I have noticed plenty of these trees planted densely around edges of woods competing well for daylight. I understand that they are a very long living species, 250 to 500 years. The fruit is used extensively in the food industry, I like the nuts raw or roasted. It will grow well in most soil except for naturally high PH soil such as lime.
