Description
Indian Bean Tree, Catalpa bignonioides, is a deciduous tree which grows to about 15m. It will grow very quickly and produces amazing large spade shaped leaves and has a white/yellow flower. I am told that is the only source of food for the Sphinx moth. The caterpillars are sort after by fishermen. I can’t verify this fact as I’m not a fisherman! The tree is an eye catcher, but it only suits large gardens or parkland. It will grow in most types of soil.
