Description
Cherry Laurel, Prunus laurocerasus, is everywhere. Used in parks, gardens and many public areas, it can grow up to 15 metres high or it is just as happy to be kept trimmed back to half a metre. One of it’s best uses is for screening purposes, it also is very effective at creating a shelter area. The flower buds arrive in early spring and by early summer the beautiful flowers make a great show. When autumn starts berries take the place of the flowers. These berries will be devoured by birds as winter comes. I understand that parts of the berries are poisonous. If the shrub is trimmed in the autumn the berries and potential problem will be reduced. This shrub is of course evergreen and quite hardy it will grow well in any reasonable soil..
