Description
Scots Pine, Pinus sylvestris, is an evergreen tree. It does require a large garden or parkland to grow in. It will grow quickly and can reach 35m high. It is an ideal tree to create a wind break and privacy. The trunk branches can be trimmed as it develops, creating an effective spectacle, especially when several trees are planted together. The long straight trunk colour changes from an orange/red, to a grey/brown. It will grow in very poor sandy soil, good soil and peat bogs. I have visited a peat bog, where the tree will move up and down as people walk, or jump, by!
