Description
Whitebeam, Sorbus aria, is a great tree for medium or large gardens. It is ideal for parkland and street planting. As a young tree it does not show off it’s main attribute, which is the exceptional white underside of its it’s leaves, but as it grows the vigour of the tree becomes apparent as the dome shape canopy gets above head height so the brilliance of the white underside of the leaves show up. In the Autumn beautiful red berries form after the Spring blossom. The berries are excellent food for many species of birds. Whitebeam will grow well in most types of soil.
