After Sales Advice – Care & Planting
Growing trees at our farm’s tree nursery using an organically certified growing system, together with our own peat free methods have produced the trees we all hope you will enjoy. Our small team have been successful in producing trees from seed with a very low carbon foot print. Without using chemical fertilisers or chemical sprays, and also just as importantly, without peat.
To help with successful establishment at your end we have listed some simple actions we think are necessary when the trees arrive:
- Open the inner biodegradable bag.
- Pour a little water into the bag to re-moisten the roots.
- Empty any excess water.
For short term storage 2/3 weeks:
- Re-tie the bag loosely.
- Store the bag in a cool place away from direct sunlight and drying winds.
- Check every four days for signs of the roots drying out. If necessary, repeat the moistening process.
For longer term storage 3+ weeks:
- Dig a trench about 25cm-30cm deep, take the trees as a bundle out of the bag and place the bundles of trees in the trench.
- Cover the roots of the trees with soil and firm down, leaving the stems (trunks) out of the ground.
- Protect the trees from vermin.
At planting time:
- Any trees left open to sunshine and drying winds even for a short time while actually planting, will suffer considerable damage to their very delicate fibrous roots.
- The soil must be frost free and not waterlogged.
- Try and get the trees planted by mid March at the latest.
Please email sales@organichedgingandtrees.co.uk or phone 07740 719743 for further help or advice.

Together we have completed the whole process from sowing the tiny seeds, to now you planting the trees in their final positions in the least harmful way possible to our environment, I think we all deserve to be congratulated!
